SOCIAL FAIR 2022

Since 2006, Koppermann has been involved in the Social Fair initiative run by the Hamburg-based Association of Non-Food Importers (ANFI). As a family-run business, our actions are “instinctively” sustainable and we always plan for the long term. This policy and our reputation are key factors in selecting our production partners around the world. We make sure our partners comply with the “social-fair” code of conduct. The code is based on the ILO’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In addition to the voluntary commitment made by our production partners, our employees (agents, technicians and purchasers) and on-site management regularly review compliance with the code.

ANFI also works with independent testing institutes to conduct unannounced inspections at production facilities.

In 2017, work began to expand the social-fair code of conduct into an extensive remote capacity building program = SOCIAL FAIR 2022.

Koppermann has assumed a leading role in these activities and is participating in a pilot project involving suppliers from India. The goal is for participating suppliers to earn Social Fair 2022 certification, reflecting conditions at the factories in terms of social standards, resource management, chemicals management and social commitment. Certification is possible at three levels (gold, silver and bronze).

The certification rewards factories for implementing measures to improve working conditions as well as environmentally sound management and gives them the status of a Koppermann preferred production partner. In the long term, this will lead to improved planning reliability at these factories and enable investments in further optimization.

In addition to India, a pilot project will also be launched in Pakistan in 2018 as part of Social Fair 2022.
